As Bernard is talking make a save, poison our weapon with Bane or standard poison and drink an Aqua Vitalis
Once you have scouted the camp and returned to Bernard you will lead your allies to the bandits. This is a marked quest but requires progression in the main campaign to appear. Follow the symbol and interact with Hans. Once that is complete look at the map of Rattay and you will see the Icon for the Quest Giver which is Hans. This quest only appears once you have completed the main quest Questions and Answers.
as the above solution makes it seem as this is an unmarked quest onl obtainable by talking to Hans. I had completed Hans previous quest with the wench and was trying to get this quest to appear. I wanted to give additional information as I wasted hours trying to get this quest, following Hans capon around town needlesly.
